Hyperoptic is a market-leading broadband provider offering some of the fastest broadband packages in the UK with average speeds of up to 900 Mbps for under £35. If you’re after a high-speed broadband deal, this might be the right choice for you.
Hyperoptic’s lightning-fast service runs on a ‘fibre-to-the-premises’ (FTTP) network using the provider’s own cables. This means you won’t need a landline to enjoy Hyperoptic’s fibre optic broadband. However, you can also add a home phone deal for a little extra per month.
There are four broadband deals to choose from with a contract length of one month, 12 months or 24 months.
Average speed of 50Mbps: simple, fast and reliable broadband that supports video streaming and gaming for small households. Ideal for a small household, it can support up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices, although not all of these will be able to stream at one time without a slowing in broadband speed.
Average speed of 150Mbps: can handle video streaming and gaming in HD, as well as video calling, downloading large files and other demanding tasks. Ideal for a medium-to-large household with several devices online at once.
Average speed of 500Mbps: enough for large households where many users frequently need a wireless connection for a range of different activities including working from home, HD gaming and video streaming.
Average speed of 900Mbps, with potential to deliver up to 1Gbps: perfect for large households where users frequently play online games, stream video content and download other files all at the same time. With such high speeds you can prevent buffering and a slow connection.

If you can’t get Hyperoptic in your area just yet, you can register your interest on the provider’s website. Hyperoptic will begin installing fibre broadband in your area if enough people show interest. Since the provider is located on Hammersmith Road in west London, the capital and many of its surrounding areas already have access to the Hyperoptic network.
All Hyperoptic broadband offers come with a HyperHub dual-band router. It is simple to install but requires an additional activation cost of £29.
To set up your hub, plug it in and switch on the mains socket. Press the ‘ON/OFF’ button and the power light should turn green. Your HyperHub will automatically connect to Hyperoptic’s network, providing you with a broadband connection.
To wirelessly connect devices to your hub, enter the Wi-Fi password printed on the side into your devices.
Using a pin, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for 15 to 20 seconds and then release. It takes up to two minutes for the router to restart.
Select ‘Security’ on the hub, enter your new password and select ‘Apply’. Be sure to create a secure and unique password.

Hyperoptic is one of the fastest broadband providers in the UK, offering the same upload and download speeds on all its FTTP packages. Symmetrical download and upload speeds is an extremely rare feature that no package from the likes of Virgin Media, BT, Sky and TalkTalk offers.
Hyperoptic’s gigabit package is extremely competitive, offering average download and upload speeds of 900Mbps and maximum speeds of 1Gbps. Virgin Media’s Gigabit Broadband deal offers a higher download rate of 1,130 Mbps but its upload speeds are slower at just 52 Mbps. Virgin’s deal also comes in at a higher monthly price.
While its speeds are quick, availability is the main hurdle for most in signing up to Hyperoptic. If Hyperoptic isn’t available where you live, you’ll need to opt for a different provider. If you don’t need the fastest speeds, consider Plusnet or Vodafone for the affordable fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) internet deals or Virgin Media for faster packages. These providers offer a wide range of deals from 30Mbps upwards.
Hyperoptic’s customer support team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help with your service. It will take around an hour for the technician to set up your connection. If you already have cables installed, it will only take a few minutes to set up your hub. You’ll just need to plug it in and connect your devices.
Your connection can be activated once your service is installed. The installation date can be scheduled for as soon as the next working day, depending whether an engineer in your area is available.
No, you won’t need a traditional phone line that connects to the Openreach network. Hyperoptic uses its own cables and infrastructure to supply a connection.
No, Hyperoptic doesn’t have an app. To manage your account and view your bills, sign into the provider’s online portal using your login details. You can access this via the provider’s website.

To cancel your Hyperoptic plan, get in touch with its customer service team. If your deal has already ended, cancelling your contract will be hassle-free. If you’re on a 12-month or 24-month plan and wish to leave before your commitment period is over, you will have to pay an early cancellation fee.
You’ll also need to give them 30 days’ notice if you wish to cancel even if you’re on a rolling monthly plan.
