The provider’s average download speeds range from 54 Mbps up to over 1Gbps on the following packages:
If you’re unhappy with your current broadband provider and want to switch to Virgin Media, new customers have a wealth of broadband deals to choose from. As long as your contract is up with your current provider or you’ve agreed to terminate your deal, you can sign up to one of the deals listed above as a broadband-only deal or in one of the many Virgin Media packages available.
Depending on when you sign up, Virgin Media offers new customers special incentives such as half-price bills for a certain period, bill credit or a free Amazon Echo when you sign up. Find out about new customer deals available now:
New customers are not the only ones that can benefit from Virgin Broadband deals, existing customers can also access special offers. If you’re already signed up to a Virgin Media deal, you may be able to upgrade your broadband package to a faster average download speed, to a broadband and TV package or to add mobile or phone add-ons for a reduced price or with added incentives.
Existing customers can see the offers available at any given moment by logging into their My Virgin Media account online or via the Virgin Media app.
Virgin Media offers you the choice between a broadband-only package or a bundle combining broadband with other services, such as TV and phone - these have names like the Big Bundle, Bigger Bundle, and Bigger Bundle+. Virgin Broadband deals can also come in bundles which combine a TV and broadband package with an O2 SIM-only deal for your mobile.
You don’t have to combine extra services, but it can help you save money compared to paying for them separately. New customers can also get exclusive deals on bundles, and TV packages include premium channels such as BT Sport, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.
The table below shows the Virgin Broadband deals available without any additional service. They can each be had with or without line rental and on a month-to-month or a long-term contract, though costs may differ depending on the deal you choose.

A smattering of negative reviews have begun to appear recently which criticise the lack of options to upgrade mobile plans, but these have nothing to do with the functionality of the app, with which the vast majority of users seem to have no problem.
In this section, we will consider whether or not Virgin Media measures up based on its best features and drawbacks to help you decide whether or not to sign up.
To help you weigh up the pros and cons, here’s a summary of what customers are saying:

Opinions on Virgin Media broadband from the independent consumer review site Trustpilot offer a bleak and somewhat one-sided view of the provider’s service. Common complaints include difficulty in getting support from the customer service team, frustration with recent price hikes and the expense and difficulty of upgrading packages.
It is true, however, that Trustpilot tends to attract more complaints than praise in general. Independent review sites offer a brighter picture of Virgin Media’s broadband service, citing the breadth and flexibility of its selection of deals, as well as the speed and reliability of its packages.
Virgin Media offers new customers a good selection of broadband deals which can be combined with the most sought-after TV channels, including Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, and BT Sport. For some customers, however, their flexible bundles aren’t quite enough to offset a track record of poor customer service. For many, the price of the speeds and flexibility of Virgin Broadband deals is stretching beyond affordability.
On the whole, we believe that whether or not Virgin Broadband is right for you, will depend on your needs, and your budget. If you want a complete TV and high-speed broadband package with phone, or mobile add-ons and can afford to pay a premium, Virgin Media deals could be what you’re looking for.
The cost of your Virgin Media broadband package will depend on the deal you choose. You can opt for broadband-only or a bundle with additional services, such as Virgin TV and phone. With Virgin Media’s Volt packages, you can also get an O2 SIM card. New customers should look out for special offers on bundles as this could also save them money.
You can check whether Virgin Media broadband is available in your area by typing your postcode into our postcode finder.
Around half of UK households are able to receive Virgin Media broadband, so it’s not a service everyone can access. You can find out if Virgin Media operates in your area by using our postcode checker.
You’ll need to ensure Virgin Media operates in your area, as your home will need to be connected to its network. You’ll also need a Virgin Media WiFi hub and, if you opt for a bundle with a TV deal, you’ll need a Virgin TV 360 box.
New customers will usually be given the hub and Virgin TV box. Customers who are upgrading may need to cover the cost of new equipment themselves, but this will be at Virgin Media’s discretion.
Virgin Media is one of the few broadband providers that doesn’t require a phone line, which means you won’t have to pay for line rental. This is because Virgin’s broadband service connects your home using coaxial cables. You can, however, pay for line rental and use your home phone if you choose to, and it can be added to your bundle.
Virgin Media offers award-winning internet security by F-Secure. It’s available for use on as many devices as you need and free for three months, with a cost of £3 per month thereafter. New customers who install Virgin internet security can rest assured that devices will be scanned multiple times each day to keep them safe and protected from malware.
If you have children, Virgin also enables you to set parental controls.
If you’re a new customer, you’ll need to check that Virgin Media operates in your area. If they do and your property is already connected to the Virgin network, switching should take around two weeks. If you need additional equipment installed (such as cables), Virgin will let you know how long set-up will take based on your circumstances.
If you have problems with your broadband service, you can call Virgin by calling 150 from a Virgin Media mobile. From a home phone or other mobile, you can call 0345 454 111. Phone lines are open:
