Virgin Media offers you the choice between a broadband-only package or a bundle combining broadband with other services, such as TV and phone - these have names like the Big Bundle, Bigger Bundle, and Bigger Bundle+. My Virgin Media is a way for the provider’s customers to interact with Virgin and manage their account. Customers can access their Virgin Media account online or via the My Virgin Media app, which is free to download in the App Store or on Google Play.

Virgin Media Connect app

The Connect app can be used to control your home’s WiFi connection if you have either the Virgin Media Hub 3, Hub 4 or Hub 5 routers. You can perform the following functions via the app:

  • Run a WiFi speed test: Virgin Media has partnered with SamKnows, an internet performance monitoring service, to offer you a room by room analysis of your home WiFi coverage and a speed test.
  • Pause WiFi access: the app allows you to view all the devices connected to your network and pause access to individual devices whenever you like, allowing you to limit kids’ access or kick out unauthorised users. It also allows you to reboot your Hub remotely.
  • Get chat support: if you can’t find help in the app’s FAQs section, you can get tech support using its live chat function from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Virgin TV Go

If you’re signed up to a Virgin Media TV package, you can use the TV Go app to watch on-demand or live content that’s included in your package. Here’s the complete list of the app’s features:

  • Personalise your TV guide by creating your own channel lists and prioritising your favourite channels. You can also remove the TV channels you never watch.
  • Save TV programmes and films to watch offline on your phone, tablet or laptop wherever you like.
  • Register up to five devices and use your service on up to two at a time. You can use the app to change registered devices up to three times a month.

Virgin TV Control

TV Control can be used to access, manage and control your Virgin Media TV box from a distance. It can be downloaded for free on as many devices as you like and can be used anywhere in the world your Virgin TV V6 or TiVo® box is turned on.

Opinions on Virgin Media broadband from the independent consumer review site Trustpilot offer a bleak and somewhat one-sided view of the provider’s service. Virgin Media offers new customers a good selection of broadband deals which can be combined with the most sought-after TV channels, including Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, and BT Sport. For some customers, however, their flexible bundles aren’t quite enough to offset a track record of poor customer service. For many, the price of the speeds and flexibility of Virgin Broadband deals is stretching beyond affordability.

On the whole, we believe that whether or not Virgin Broadband is right for you, will depend on your needs, and your budget. If you want a complete TV and high-speed broadband package with phone, or mobile add-ons and can afford to pay a premium, Virgin Media deals could be what you’re looking for.

Virgin Media is one of the few broadband providers that doesn’t require a phone line, which means you won’t have to pay for line rental. This is because Virgin’s broadband service connects your home using coaxial cables. You can, however, pay for line rental and use your home phone if you choose to, and it can be added to your bundle.

Virgin Media offers award-winning internet security by F-Secure. It’s available for use on as many devices as you need and free for three months, with a cost of £3 per month thereafter. New customers who install Virgin internet security can rest assured that devices will be scanned multiple times each day to keep them safe and protected from malware.
